Sign the Executive Order to Stop Giving Away Public Housing Land!

Along with a coalition of other community organizations, we advocated for Mayor Johnson to sign the executive order to stop giving away giving away public housing land!

The Issue: CHA (Chicago Housing Authority) has been disposing of public housing land for purposes other than housing for over a decade. This includes selling public housing land for ABLA Homes to billionaire Joe Mansueto for soccer fields, trying to use the Harold Ickes Homes land for a high school, selling the Robert Taylor Homes for XS Tennis facilities, and more. THIS NEEDS TO STOP.

The Solution:  The Mayor signs an executive order saying he will not support any more CHA land dispositions until there has been a review of CHA land use and a new plan for CHA is developed.
